Music Therapy Engages Students with Autism

April 8, 2017 by Andrew Dapolite Leave a Comment

The American Society of Composers and Publishers, ASCAP, recognizes the Importance of Music Therapy for autistic learners which is why they support music therapy classes in the Eastchester School District. Through a course taught by Lisa Sandagata, MA, MT-BC of the Music Conservatory of Westchester’s Music Therapy Institute, students with autism and developmental delays are engaged in a unique music program that explores songwriting, improvisation while addressing cognitive, social and emotional goal areas through a motivating, creative experience. I was proud to contribute to join ASCAP in supporting Lisa’s work by putting together this fundraiser video highlighting her work with students.
